"Venerable Sir! An earth-bodied soul undergoing [death-]samudghāta in the interval between this Ratnaprabhā earth and Śarkarāprabhā earth, having undergone [death-]samudghāta, who is fit to be reborn as an earth-bodied soul in the Saudharma kalpa: Venerable Sir, would it first take nourishment after being reborn, or first take nourishment and then be reborn?"
"Gautama! It might either first be reborn and then take nourishment—in this way, as in the seventeenth śataka, sixth uddeśaka, up to: for that reason, Gautama, it is said: either first... up to be reborn; with the sole difference that there 'reaching' [is said], while here 'takes nourishment' is said; the rest is just the same.
"Venerable Sir! An earth-bodied soul undergoing [death-]samudghāta in the interval between this Ratnaprabhā earth and Śarkarāprabhā earth, having undergone [death-]samudghāta, who is fit to be reborn as an earth-bodied soul in the Īśāna kalpa?" It is just the same. In this manner, its rebirth should be stated up to Īṣatprāgbhārā.
"Venerable Sir! An earth-bodied soul undergoing [death-]samudghāta in the interval between Śarkarāprabhā and Vālukāprabhā earth, having undergone [death-]samudghāta, who is fit [to be reborn] in Saudharma... up to Īṣatprāgbhārā"—in this manner, according to this order, up to undergoing [death-]samudghāta in the interval between Tamā and the Adhaḥsaptamī earth, being [such], who is fit [to be reborn] in Saudharma... up to Īṣatprāgbhārā, its rebirth should be stated.
"Venerable Sir! An earth-bodied soul undergoing [death-]samudghāta in the interval between the Saudharma-Īśāna and Sanatkumāra-Māhendra kalpas, having undergone [death-]samudghāta, who is fit to be reborn as an earth-bodied soul in this Ratnaprabhā earth: Venerable Sir, would it first be reborn and then take nourishment?" The rest is just the same, up to: for that reason... up to the conclusion.
