aha bhaṃte! seriyaka-navamāliya-koreṃṭaga-baṃdhujīvaga-maṇojjā, jahā pannavaṇāe paḍhamapade gāhāṇu-sāreṇaṃ jāva navanītiya-kuṃda-mahājāīṇaṃ–eesi ṇaṃ je jīvā mūlattāe vakkamaṃti? evaṃ ettha vi mūlādīyā dasa uddesagā niravasesaṃ jahā sālīṇaṃ|

"Now, Venerable Sir, of seriyaka, navamālikā, koraṇṭaka, bandhujīvaka, manojñā—according to the verses in the first chapter of the Prajñāpanā up to navanītikā, kunda, and mahājāti—those souls who pass into existence as the roots of these?" In this manner here too, ten uddeśakas beginning with root [are to be stated] completely just like [those] of the śāli [group].
