"Venerable Sir! Are atomic pudgalas numerable, innumerable, or infinite?"
"Gautama! They are not numerable, nor innumerable; they are infinite. In this manner up to infinite-space-point aggregates.
"Venerable Sir! Are pudgalas occupying one space-point numerable, innumerable, or infinite?"
"In the very same manner. In this manner up to [pudgalas] occupying innumerable space-points.
"Venerable Sir! Are pudgalas of one-instant duration numerable...?"
"In the very same manner. In this manner up to [pudgalas] of innumerable-instant duration.
"Venerable Sir! Are pudgalas of one degree of blackness numerable...?"
"In the very same manner. In this manner up to [pudgalas] of infinite degrees of blackness. In this manner, the remaining colours, odours, tastes, and touches are also to be understood, up to [pudgalas] of infinite degrees of dryness.
"Between these atomic pudgalas, Venerable Sir, and two-space-point aggregates, which are more in terms of substance?"
"Gautama! Atomic pudgalas are more in terms of substance than two-space-point aggregates."
"Between these two-space-point aggregates, Venerable Sir, and three-space-point aggregates, which are more in terms of substance?"
"Gautama! Two-space-point aggregates are more in terms of substance than three-space-point aggregates. In this way, by this method, up to: nine-space-point aggregates are more in terms of substance than ten-space-point aggregates.
"Between these ten-space-point aggregates, Venerable Sir—[the same] question."
"Gautama! Numerable-space-point aggregates are more in terms of substance than ten-space-point aggregates."
"Between these numerable-space-point aggregates, Venerable Sir—[the same] question."
"Gautama! Innumerable-space-point aggregates are more in terms of substance than numerable-space-point aggregates."
"Between these innumerable-space-point aggregates, Venerable Sir—[the same] question."
"Gautama! Innumerable-space-point aggregates are more in terms of substance than infinite-space-point aggregates."
"Between these atomic pudgalas, Venerable Sir, and two-space-point aggregates, which are more in terms of space-points?"
"Gautama! Two-space-point aggregates are more in terms of space-points than atomic pudgalas. In this way, by this method, up to: ten-space-point aggregates are more in terms of space-points than nine-space-point aggregates. Thus the question is to be asked everywhere. Numerable-space-point aggregates are more in terms of space-points than ten-space-point aggregates. Innumerable-space-point aggregates are more in terms of space-points than numerable-space-point aggregates.
"Between these innumerable-space-point aggregates, Venerable Sir—[the same] question."
"Gautama! Innumerable-space-point aggregates are more in terms of space-points than infinite-space-point aggregates."
"Between these pudgalas occupying one space-point, Venerable Sir, and [those] occupying two space-points, which are specifically greater in terms of substance?"
"Gautama! Pudgalas occupying one space-point are specifically greater in terms of substance than pudgalas occupying two space-points. In this way, by this method, pudgalas occupying two space-points are specifically greater in terms of substance than pudgalas occupying three space-points, up to: pudgalas occupying nine space-points are specifically greater in terms of substance than pudgalas occupying ten space-points. Pudgalas occupying numerable space-points are more in terms of substance than pudgalas occupying ten space-points. Pudgalas occupying innumerable space-points are more in terms of substance than pudgalas occupying numerable space-points. The question is to be stated everywhere.
"Between these pudgalas occupying one space-point, Venerable Sir, and [those] occupying two space-points, which are specifically greater in terms of space-points?"
"Gautama! Pudgalas occupying two space-points are specifically greater in terms of space-points than pudgalas occupying one space-point. In this manner up to: pudgalas occupying ten space-points are specifically greater in terms of space-points than pudgalas occupying nine space-points. Pudgalas occupying numerable space-points are more in terms of space-points than pudgalas occupying ten space-points. Pudgalas occupying innumerable space-points are more in terms of space-points than pudgalas occupying numerable space-points."
"Between these pudgalas of one-instant duration, Venerable Sir, and [those] of two-instant duration, in terms of substance...?"
"As is the statement regarding occupation, so also regarding duration."
"Between these pudgalas of one degree of blackness, Venerable Sir, and [those] of two degrees of blackness, in terms of substance...?"
"Concerning these, the exposition is entirely the same as for atomic pudgalas and the rest. The same for all colours, odours, and tastes.
"Between these pudgalas of one degree of roughness, Venerable Sir, and [those] of two degrees of roughness, which are specifically greater in terms of substance?"
"Gautama! Pudgalas of two degrees of roughness are specifically greater in terms of substance than pudgalas of one degree of roughness. In this manner up to: pudgalas of ten degrees of roughness are specifically greater in terms of substance than pudgalas of nine degrees of roughness. Pudgalas of numerable degrees of roughness are more in terms of substance than pudgalas of ten degrees of roughness. Pudgalas of innumerable degrees of roughness are more in terms of substance than pudgalas of numerable degrees of roughness. Pudgalas of infinite degrees of roughness are more in terms of substance than pudgalas of innumerable degrees of roughness. The same also in terms of space-points. Everywhere the question is to be stated. As roughness, so also soft, heavy, and light. Cold, hot, smooth, and dry are as colors."
