pulāe ṇaṃ bhaṃte! kiṃ saliṃge hojjā? annaliṃge hojjā? gihiliṃge hojjā?
goyamā! davvaliṃgaṃ paḍucca saliṃge vā hojjā, annaliṃge vā hojjā, gihiliṃge vā hojjā| bhāvaliṃgaṃ paḍucca niyamaṃ saliṃge hojjā| evaṃ jāva siṇāe|

"Venerable Sir! Would a pulāka be in his own emblem, in another's emblem, or in a householder's emblem?"
"Gautama! In terms of external emblem, he may be in his own emblem, or in another's emblem, or in a householder's emblem. In terms of internal emblem, he would invariably be in his own emblem. Likewise up to the snātaka."
