When a period of three crore-crores of sāgaropamas had passed in that age, with infinite modes of color, infinite modes of smell, infinite modes of taste, infinite modes of touch, infinite modes of osseous structure, infinite modes of configuration, infinite modes of height, infinite modes of lifespan, infinite modes of heavy-lightness, infinite modes of neither-heavy-nor-lightness, and infinite modes of exertion, action, power, vigor, masculine effort, and bravery declining by an infinitely-fold reduction—then, O long-lived śramaṇa, the age named Suṣamaduḥṣamā began.
That age is divided into three: the first third, the middle third, and the final third.
"Venerable sir, in this avasarpiṇī in Jambūdvīpa island, during the first and middle thirds of the Suṣamaduḥṣamā age, what was the nature and appearance of the Bharata realm?" "O Gautama, it had an extremely flat and delightful surface; the same description should be known, with this difference: their height was two thousand dhanuses; those humans had sixty-four ribs; a desire for food arose at the fourth meal; their lifespan was one palyopama; they protected and cherished [their offspring] for seventy-nine days and nights, up to: O long-lived śramaṇa, those humans are declared to have destination in the heavenly realms!"
"Venerable sir, in the final third of that age, what was the nature and appearance of the Bharata realm?" "O Gautama, it had an extremely flat and delightful surface, just like the face of a drum, up to: adorned with five-colored gems and varieties of grasses, both artificial and non-artificial."
"Venerable sir, in the final third of that age, what was the nature and appearance of the humans in the Bharata realm?" "O Gautama, those humans had the six types of osseous structures, the six types of configurations, were many hundreds of dhanuses in height, lived for a countable number of years at a minimum and an uncountable number of years at a maximum; having lived [their lifespan], some went to hell, some went to the animal realm, some went to the human realm, some went to the divine realm, and some were perfected, enlightened, liberated, attained complete nirvāṇa, and put an end to all suffering."
