At that time, in that age, a great cloud named Puṣkala-saṃvartaka will appear—equal in length to Bharata realm, and corresponding [to it] in breadth and thickness. Then that great cloud Puṣkala-saṃvartaka will swiftly begin to thunder, and having thundered, will swiftly begin to flash with lightning, and having flashed with lightning, will swiftly rain a deluge for seven nights in torrents the size of yokes, pestles, and fists, whereby it will extinguish the ground of Bharata realm, which had become like burning charcoal, hot ashes, cinders, a heated frying pan, and blazing fire.
And when that great cloud Puṣkala-saṃvartaka has ceased after seven nights, then a great cloud named Kṣīramegha will appear—equal in length to Bharata realm, and corresponding [to it] in breadth and thickness. Then that great cloud named Kṣīramegha will swiftly begin to thunder, and having thundered, will swiftly begin to flash with lightning, and having flashed with lightning, will swiftly rain a deluge for seven nights in torrents the size of yokes, pestles, and fists, whereby it will produce color, smell, taste, and touch in the soil of Bharata realm.
And when that Kṣīramegha has ceased after seven nights, then a great cloud named Ghṛtamegha will appear—equal in length to Bharata realm, and corresponding [to it] in breadth and thickness. Then that great cloud Ghṛtamegha will swiftly begin to thunder, and having thundered, will swiftly begin to flash with lightning, and having flashed with lightning, will swiftly rain a deluge for seven nights in torrents the size of yokes, pestles, and fists, whereby it will produce unctuousness in the soil of Bharata realm.
And when that Ghṛtamegha has ceased after seven nights, then a great cloud named Amṛtamegha will appear—equal in length to Bharata realm, and corresponding [to it] in breadth and thickness. Then that great cloud Amṛtamegha will swiftly begin to thunder, and having thundered, will swiftly begin to flash with lightning, and having flashed with lightning, will swiftly rain a deluge for seven nights in torrents the size of yokes, pestles, and fists, whereby in Bharata realm it will produce grass and plant-bodied beings, such as trees, shrubs, bushes, climbing plants, creeping plants, grass, jointed reeds, green herbs, medicinal herbs, sprouts, and shoots.
And when that Amṛtamegha has ceased after seven nights, then a great cloud named Rasamegha will appear—equal in length to Bharata realm, and corresponding [to it] in breadth and thickness. Then that great cloud Rasamegha will swiftly begin to thunder, and having thundered, will swiftly begin to flash with lightning, and having flashed with lightning, will swiftly rain a deluge for seven nights in torrents the size of yokes, pestles, and fists, whereby it will generate in those many trees, shrubs, bushes, climbing plants, creeping plants, grass, jointed reeds, green herbs, medicinal herbs, sprouts, shoots, and the like, the five distinct tastes: bitter, pungent, astringent, sour, and sweet. Then Bharata realm will be covered with overgrown trees, shrubs, bushes, climbing plants, creeping plants, grass, jointed reeds, green herbs, and medicinal herbs; it will abound with developed bark, leaves, sprouts, shoots, flowers, and fruits, and will also become delightful to enjoy.
