bāhu-prasāram akarot parirambhaṇāya
bāhū tu tat-karaṇatāṃ ciram īyatur na |
yo yasya naiti vaśatāṃ sa kathaṃ nu tasya
prāpnotu sādhakatama-sthitim añjasaiva? || [vasantatilakā]
He stretched out his arms to embrace, / but the two arms for long did not become the instruments of doing so. / How indeed can that which does not submit to someone / easily attain the status of being their most effective means? ||
