upary-uḍa-gaṇaḥ kṣitau surabhi-citra-puṣpāvalis tathā tad anu candrikā vividha-ratna-lakṣmīr iha |
sa tatra śaśa-lāñchanī vimala-vaktra-saṅghā itas tad evam ubhayoḥ sthitir gagana-rāsa-raṅga-śriyoḥ ||
'Above was the host of stars, upon the earth a row of fragrant, variegated flowers; / likewise thereafter moonlight, and here the beauty of various jewels; / there was the hare-marked moon, and here the assemblage of spotless faces; / thus was the situation of the beauty of the celestial sphere and the arena of the rāsa.'
