tāsāṃ nāti-pratītiṃ madhu-pura-gamane śrī-hareḥ kurvatīnāṃ
vajrāṇāṃ pāta-tulyaḥ śirasi yad abhavat tad rathāroha-jalpaḥ |
tasmān nindā kṛtā yad vraja-pati-sadasām apy amūdṛgbhir uccair
duḥkha-prācuryam etan mama vikalayati svāntam adyāpi hanta ||

While they placed little belief in Śrī Hari's departure for Madhupura, / the talk of his boarding the chariot fell upon their heads like the stroke of thunderbolts. / Because of this, the assembly of the lord of Vraja was loudly reviled by them, who were in such a state— / alas, even today this profusion of sorrow agitates my heart! //
