hā hā sā rāsa-goṣṭhī nava-nava-milanollāsa-śaśvad vilāsā
tal-līlā-kalpa-vallī-samudaya-januṣām aṅkura-śrīḥ kva yātā ?
hā dhig yākrūra-nāmnā kitava-nṛpatinā dīkṣitā gopa-goṣṭhī
seyaṃ tat-sarva-nāśiny ajani kuta iti krośikā māṃ dahanti ||

'Alas, alas! That rāsa assembly with its perpetual play, radiant with ever-new meetings, / that splendid sprout born of the gathering of wish-fulfilling creepers of his divine play—where has it gone? / Fie, alas! The assembly of cowherds, initiated by that king of cheats named Akrūra, / has become the destroyer of it all!' Their cries—'Why has it happened?'—burn me! //
