1.8.41

tokaṃ dhartuṃ sā samīpe' pi śīghraṃ
dhāvantī tat prāpa dhāvan na mātā |
prāgañcantaṃ vāyu-vegāt pratīcī
stokāmbhodaṃ yadvad ambhoda-vīthī || [śālinī]

Though she ran fast and was near, the mother
did not catch the child as he ran,
just as a bank of western clouds does not reach
a small cloud moving east before the speed of the wind. ||
