dviṣatām udayaḥ sumedhasā gurur asvantataraḥ sumarṣaṇaḥ
na mahān api bhūtim icchatā phalasampatpravaṇaḥ parikṣayaḥ //
The rise of enemies, heavy and leading to evil ends, / is easily endured by a wise man; / but a decline, even if great, that inclines toward an abundance of fruit / is not to be endured by one desiring prosperity.
