8.38

asaṃśayaṃ nyastam upāntaraktatāṃ yad eva roddhuṃ ramaṇībhir añjanam
hṛte 'pi tasmin salilena śuklatāṃ nirāsa rāgo nayaneṣu na śriyam //

The collyrium that was applied by the lovely women / undoubtedly to check the redness at the corners [of their eyes]— / even when that was washed away by the water, / the reddish tinge did not banish the whiteness nor the charm of their eyes.
