May that Ambikā protect you, by whom the enemy of the gods who manifested a fraudulent buffalo body was spurned far away with her foot like the Bull-Rider, Śiva. Of what sort were the enemy of the gods and the Bull-Rider? Variegated by the dust shaken up from the lotus grove agitated by contact with the Gaṅgā. Again, of what sort? Approaching quickly nearby so that there was ever-greater passion out of the fulfillment of desire. Of what sort? Longing for her left foot—wishing to touch her left foot to propitiate her, and [the demon] wishing to harm it.
“Fair lady, do you bend this eyebrow-bow in vain, with arrow-eyes flashing?
I am not the Wielder of the Pināka, whose fault has been made renowned in secret sport with a rival woman!”
May the goddess Bhadrakālī protect you, who with exceeding harshness of stride slays
that enemy of the gods who, bearing a buffalo’s body, is arrogant and furious within, as he thus mocks her. || 76
