1.75

eke sat-puruṣāḥ parārtha-ghaṭakāḥ svārthaṃ parityajanti ye
sāmānyās tu parārtham udyama-bhṛtaḥ svārthāvirodhena ye |
te 'mī mānuṣa-rākṣasāḥ parahitaṃ svārthāya nighnanti ye
ye tu ghnanti nirarthakaṃ parahitaṃ te ke na jānīmahe ||

Some are good men, who achieve another's good while abandoning their own; / but the ordinary are those who strive for another's good without conflicting with their own; / these are human demons, who destroy another's welfare for their own sake; / but as for those who destroy another's welfare to no purpose, who they are we do not know.
