āhūya dānaṃ brāhmaḥ syāt kulaśīlayutāya tu /
puruṣāṃstārayettajjo nityaṃ kanyapradānataḥ //
The gift [of a maiden] after having invited a man endowed with good lineage and conduct is the Brāhma rite; / one born of that [union] always liberates his ancestors through the gift of the maiden.
