kārttikyāntu vṛṣotsargaṃ kṛtvā naktaṃ samācaret /
śaivaṃ padamavāpnoti vṛṣavratamidaṃ paraṃ //
On the full-moon day of Kārttika, having performed the setting-free of a bull, one should take food only at night; / one attains the realm of Śiva. This votive observance of the bull is supreme.
