prāsādasya tu vistāro mānaṃ daṇḍasya kīrtitaṃ /
śikharārdhena vā kuryāt tṛtīyārdhena vā punaḥ //
The breadth of the temple is proclaimed to be the measure of the staff; / or one may make it half the spire, or again half a third [of it].
