ṣaṭtriṃśanmātrikaḥ śreṣṭhaḥ pratyāhāraśca rodhanam /
brahmātmacintā dhyānaṃ syāddhāraṇā manaso dhṛtiḥ //

And the superior consists of thirty-six measures; and sensory withdrawal (pratyāhāra) is restraining [the senses]. / Meditation (dhyāna) is reflection on Brahman as the self; concentration (dhāraṇā) is steadiness of mind.
