śrīkṛṣṇa uvāca /
buddhiḥ patnī sā dvirūpā khagendra duṣṭā caikā tvaparā suṣṭhurūpā /
tayormadhye duṣṭarūpā kaniṣṭhā jyeṣṭhā tu yā suṣṭhubuddhisvarūpā //
The blessed Kṛṣṇa said: / The wife is the intellect, and she has two forms, O King of Birds: one is wicked, and the other is virtuous. / Between the two, the younger is wicked in form, whereas the elder has the nature of a virtuous intellect.
