yasmādannāddhṛtā mātrā bhakṣayanti dvijātayaḥ
anvāhāryakam ityuktaṃ tasmāttaccandrasaṃkṣaye //
Because the twice-born eat the particles from the rice-balls on the occasion of the Amâvasya feast, it is called Anvâhârya.—43.
