sanatkumāra uvāca
atha vyāsa samāṃ bhūmiṃ saṃprāptāndānavarṣabhān .
uvāca sarvān1 gambhīraṃ2 mṛgānsiṃha ivājane3 . . 1 ..
bhavanto dānavāḥ sarve daityāśca sumahābalāḥ .
mayā mṛgeṇa samare yudhyatāṃ tu punarbhṛśam . . 2. .

Sanatkumāra said: / Then, O Vyāsa, to the foremost of the Danavas who had reached the level ground, / he spoke deeply to all of them, like a lion to deer in a clearing:
'All you Danavas and Daityas of immense might! / Let there now be a fierce battle with me, a beast!'
