Hard-hit by that foremost yakṣa with the blow of the axe and with his fist,
Rāhu of terrible might released Vināyaka, as a noble man abandons an unrighteous deed.
Turning around like an elephant in rut dwelling in a forest thicket,
the elephant-faced god of terrifying trunk struck Rāhu with feet, tusks, and swinging trunk.
Battered by Vināyaka, Rāhu, that enemy of the gods, abandoned pride, arrogance, and strength,
and stood like a waterless cloud, or like a lord of elephants struck down by a lion.
While Rāhu was being tormented by Kuṇḍodara's fist-blows and by Vināyaka,
Kujambha, Saṃhrāda, Maya, together with Tāra, Huṇḍa, and Tuhuṇḍa then rushed at him.
