brahmaṇaścārdhadehāttu manuḥ svāyambhuvo'bhavat |
śatarūpā tathā nārī sañjātā vāmabhāgataḥ ||

Next Svâyambhava Manu sprang from the lower half of Brahmâ; and the daughter named S'atarûpâ came out of the left hand side of the Brahmâ’s body.
