Devibhagavatapurana 4.13.56

4.13.56

dvijairbhogaratairvede darśitaṃ hiṃsanaṃ paśoḥ |
jihvāsvādaparaiḥ kāmamahiṃsaiva parā matā ||

It is the Brâhmanas, addicted to enjoyments and pleasures of the senses, who want to satisfy their tastes and pleasures that are found in the Veda’s injunctions to kill animals; but there is no virtue higher than non-killing animals.”
