tadāprabhṛti te sarve brāhmaṇā dhanavarjitāḥ /
śāpadoṣeṇa kauberyāṃ saṃjātā duḥkhabhājanāḥ //
From that time forward, all those brāhmaṇas became destitute of wealth; / through the fault of the curse, they became vessels of sorrow in Kauberī.
