"O Bestower of boons!" has been explained in the immediately following verse. By the expression "by whatever man," [meaning] by anyone in general, the absence of any restriction regarding division of eligibility is stated with respect to the worship of Śrīvidyā. Swiftly, unexpectedly, overcome in this manner by terror or the like in this world, seeing some terrifying object—any entity producing the agitation of fear or the like, in the form of a predator or similar animal such as a tiger suddenly appearing—even through the force of intent, meaning for the sake of removing fear and the like, the syllable "ai ai," even without the dot, might be uttered, [that is,] spoken imperfectly, devoid of the anusvāra, because of its being slipped or blurted out in the circumstance, consisting of the first phoneme-seed of the Vidyā.
