நீசெலவு அயரக் கேட்டொறும், பலநினைந்து,
அன்பின் நெஞ்சத்து, அயாஅப் பொறை மெலிந்த
என்அகத்து இடும்பை களைமார், நின்னொடு
கருங்கல் வியல்அறை கிடப்பி, வயிறுதின்று
இரும்புலி துறந்த ஏற்றுமான் உணங்கல்
நெறிசெல் வம்பலர் உவந்தனர் ஆங்கண்,
ஒலிகழை நெல்லின் அரிசியொடு ஓராங்கு
ஆன்நிலைப் பள்ளி அளைசெய்து அட்ட
வால்நிணம் உருக்கிய வாஅல் வெண்சோறு
புகர்அரைத் தேக்கின் அகல்இலை மாந்தும்
கல்லா நீள்மொழிக் கதநாய் வடுகர்
வல்லாண் அருமுனை நீந்தி, அல்லாந்து,
உகுமண்ஊறு அஞ்சும் ஒருகாற் பட்டத்து
இன்னா ஏற்றத்து இழுக்கி, முடம் கூர்ந்து,
ஒருதனித்து ஒழிந்த உரனுடை நோன்பகடு
அம்குழை இருப்பை அறைவாய் வான்புழல்
புல்உளைச் சிறாஅர் வில்லின் நீக்கி,
மரைகடிந்து ஊட்டும் வரையகச் சீறூர்
மாலை இன்துணை ஆகிக், காலைப்
பசுநனை நறுவீப் பரூஉப்பரல் உறைப்ப,
மணமனை கமழும் கானம்
துணைஈர் ஓதிஎன் தோழியும் வருமே!

Whenever she hears you prepare to depart, she thinks of many things / and in her loving heart, to remove the distress / inside me that has weakened from the unbearable burden of grief, / along with you, where wayfarers traversing the path rejoice / in the dried meat of a male deer left by a great tiger / after devouring its belly, laid out upon a broad black rock, / where the fierce-dogged Vaṭukar of unlearned, lengthy speech / eat white rice cooked with fat melted pure / along with grains of sound bamboo rice, boiled in butter / from the cattle camp, upon the broad leaves of spotted-trunk teak trees, / she will swim across that hard front of strong warriors, and then, / in a mountain village where boys with thin tufts drive off wild cows / with slings to feed sweet, tubular white fallen flowers / of the soft-leaved iruppai tree to a strong, enduring bullock / left alone, severely limping, having slipped on a harsh ascent / in fear of a sudden landslip, / becoming a sweet companion in the evening, in the morning / as thick, coarse stones drip with fresh budded fragrant blossoms, / my friend with glossy damp hair will come along, / through the wilderness smelling like a wedding house!
