The beauty of my pallid-spotted, tender-leaf-like complexion has wasted away, / and yellow pining has spread over my forehead / to resemble the opposite flower of the sponge gourd climbing over bushes; / my dark, beautifully painted eyes weep; my anguish increases; / losing my wits like Ātimanti, / I have become bewildered, O dear companion! / As the blazing sun swelters, the wind blows fiercely, / and the white, cupped flowers of the iruppai tree with swaying shoots, / looking like gaming pieces carved from ivory tusks, scatter over rock surfaces— / such is the forest path traversed by my lover; / like Kāmūr of Kaḻuvuḷ, which was battered and ruined / when the twice-seven Vēḷir joined together in battle / beneath skies touching the wide umbrella of unfading, high renown, / my heart, which trusted him, is utterly shattered!
