சிறுபுன் சிதலை சேண்முயன்று எடுத்த;

When tired of the concealed food inside the tall, red anthill
raised up by the far-reaching labor of petty, tiny termites,
the dark kin of long-armed bears seize the white, hollow flowers
of the pale-trunked mahua tree.
Crossing that long desert pathway, even if I were to obtain easily
the hard-won, excellent wealth, I would not go—
may you live long, my heart!—
so as to let clear tears gather in the streaks-bearing, lustrous, cool eyes
of her who resembles a woven garland of facing blossoms
of blue water lilies growing in the deep pool teeming with bees
upon the hill of the Tall One, which has unending festivals,
where the winning banner bearing the many-spotted peacock is raised,
to the west of Kūṭal of banner-fluttering streets,
where Ceḻiyaṉ of killing warfare and tall, noble elephants,
who besieged rich Muciri with uproarious noise,
where the well-crafted fine ships brought by the Yavanas
arrive with gold and depart with black pepper,
stirring the white foam of the Cēra king’s broad Cuḷḷi river,
and crossed difficult battles to carry off their royal image.
