It is truly laughable, my friend!
As I climbed the heaped sand with my adorned maidens
and built sand-castles in the seaside grove dense with flowers,
someone drove his strong chariot of swift speed and came;
he simply placed upon me, letting it hang down over my braided hair behind,
a bee-thronged chaplet crafted by crushing buds
of bright-flowered blue water lilies clustering in a cool pond;
he looked upon my fine young breasts, pondered long,
and departed without staying; for that,
this bustling town glances at the gold-like fine pollen
of the bent-trunked punnai standing in the garden,
intertwining with screw-pines of thorny long fronds
upon which many waterbirds roost together after stirring the fish-smelling dark lagoon,
mingled with the saffron-flowered ñāḻal,
and then looks at me as well!
