Together with her companions wearing rows of bangles, fatigued from playing in the waves, / she climbed the heap of salt as the sun sank, / and for the sake of the lord of the shore counting incoming fishing boats, / the whole town sings public scandal due to its cruelty! / She does not gaze pleasantly with her wandering, rain-like eyes; / mother, may you live, please do not harass her! / One day, so that new herons perching on the branches of the laurel tree / in the thicket of high summits were scattered, / even when waves battered with the surging chilly wind, / he was capable of travelling the nearby sea; / moreover, as a fierce shark struck when he drew close to the mouth of the dark backwaters / and his charioteer drove it off, / his horses with rows of bells had their swift stride halted, / their graceful utility diminished and their harness broken; / resting on the fine sands of the roaring seaside grove, / he arrived with chosen speed, / but in the twilight of dimmed evening, he did not reach here at all!
