Her spotless, bright forehead that resembles the moon / has taken on a color like gold! Alas, / what will become of her? / Having bent and destroyed [the stalks], like the heavenly rainbow that cannot be shot, / the little parakeets with green necklaces and red mouths, / and the fowl with curved wings together with their flock / seized the large ears whose pale backs hung low under their weight, / and the millet fields too breathed easy from their lowered burden; / if you say you would come and show grace at midnight, / the precious gem spat out by a serpent, swiftly brought by the torrent / as it searched the dark clefts of the great mountain, / illuminates the streets of the small hamlet on the great mountain, / and so she has lost the night as well; she is pitiable! / O lord of the great mountain with high summits / where thunder dwells amidst heavy rains—your broad chest!
