Because the exquisite beauty of my body is lost / due to the sickness caused by the lord of the forest country / of blue-hued, great mountains rising to touch the sky, I speak: / May you go—may you live, friend!— / on the moist, cool path where nightly rains poured, / mingled with the thunderbolts of mighty thunder for many days, / so you may attain the glorious fame like Maruti, / who entered the billowing sea, celebrated in song, / showing [her] beloved to Āti Manti, / who, bewildered in mind and afflicted, / searched the shores of the river / when Kāvērī of low, dark tresses seized Āṭṭaṉ Atti of raised, rounded shoulders / shining with gathered beauty, / who danced in the festival at the great bathing ford of Kaḻāar / where the faces of muracu drums never dry in noisy clamor.
