As swarms of honeybees buzz, and the mountain-descending cascade / roars loudly, touching fragrant sandalwood to soak it cold / on the slopes of the cool mountain, / sporting with us in the long rocky pool filled with eye-like blooming dark-petaled kuvaḷai lilies, / if he spent the day pleasantly with us, / and returned home by night, it would indeed be good! / Yet on the difficult path along slopes fenced with rattan / under moonshine that spreads across the sky mimicking daytime, / since the bright blossoms of the tall vēṅkai look like the spots on a tiger, / the wide-mouthed, dark female elephant flees in fear / through groves near his small hamlet / rich with the bounty of great mountains.
