In the grove where peacocks dance with glowing spots and abundant beauty, / as fine pollen resembling gold, opened by bees from buds matured on swaying tender branches of the kino tree, / sprinkles onto their jewel-like sapphire plumage, / in the wide field of red millet with green stalks and bending ears, / she does not know that he came driven by love, scaring away red-ringed parrots along with us. / Thinking, "I must know the cause of my daughter's distress, / she who possesses the radiant beauty of a fine-hued sprout," / mother has laid out many wicker trays, brought the unknowing shaman, / and praising [Murukaṉ] so that the wide arena of the spirit-possession dance flourishes, / before she sacrifices the life of a young goat, / if we go, having resolved to go, / would it be possible, my friend, / to repeatedly embrace his chest, with which the lord of the mountain realm embraced us— / where on high peaks honeycomb hangs suspended / touching the tender, small-leaved sandalwood branches / grown tall in the crevices of the great mountain / on the cool, budding slopes tied with honey fragrance— / so that our budding, growing young breasts sink in, / and our forearms, from which bright bangles shining from afar have slipped, / and our bamboo-like shoulders with delicate lines / regain their ancient beauty ruined by distress?
