தனியன் வருதல் அவனும் அஞ்சான்;
எமியேன் இருத்தலை யானும் ஆற்றேன்;
Fearlessly coming with enthusiasm so that the bright-striped tiger
trembles in a hunt that knows no leftward turn but only victory on the right,
striking the spotted face of an elephant with an uplifted forehead
and wrenching its white tusk, in the sweet-smelling grove
of the great mountain slopes, bearing a single spear,
he does not fear coming alone;
and I, with tears welling in my eyes as distress assails me,
am unable to endure remaining alone!
What can we arrange, my friend? While the working clouds poured rain
in the dead of night, shaking and shedding the soft, blossomed dew-flowers of the thorny creeper,
like a watchman on the small bank of a great reservoir
sprinkled by the droplets of dashing waves,
our mother of strict watchfulness has forgotten her sleep!
