The plenteous clouds that scooped up the eastern sea,
resembling the battle-shields arranged in arrays of multi-armied kings of drums,
rising to the right, flashing like banners on raised flagstaffs,
pouring down with thunderous roaring voices at midnight,
have now encircled the peaks of the great mountain.
Tomorrow, cascading in bright-gleaming waterfalls,
touching and breaking the fine stalks of the large bamboo,
and driven by strong currents,
it will surely come into the very wide expanse of our town’s bathing ghat!
Shall we plunge into the water that played on the adorned tall mountain
of the one who caused us an unquenchable sorrow,
so that our fine beauty resembling a sapphire lost its luster,
to dispel the brooding distress of midnight,
when our cool, rain-like eyes turned red?
