அம்மா அரிவை உறைவின் ஊரே.

Small short hares with thick fur and tiny eyes / that look like gooseberries on small-leaved nelli trees,
having eaten the swelling grain of bent millet, / crouch in the grasping creepers with bent, cup-like ears,
awake from sweet sleep, go with their mates, / and drink from the small puddle of water seen in front yards
in the tiny hamlet at the foot of the hillock, encircled by dry fields, / where fierce warriors who drank toddy and notch their arrows,
bearing bows, go hunting / and pierce deer in gardens near the forest — / in such a lovely woodland tract is the village
where the dark-complexioned young woman dwells, / whose desire is even more overwhelming than ours!
