Where wayfarers, fallen to arrows shot from drawn bows,
have tall burial cairns overgrown with dense athiral creepers,
brought near the tall hero stones receiving morning offerings,
along the high tree-lined path that traverses the wilderness,
we arrived, compelled by work; but she, who never ceases grieving with a bewildered mind,
and feels distressed with fine modest grace if the arms bound tightly in unslackened soft embrace loosen even slightly—
looking at the strong wall where she marked the days of my far-dwelling loneliness,
thinking of me, as eye-dew splashes upon her bud-like breasts like loose-strung pearls,
sinking into the pillow of fine soft down on the faultlessly spread bed,
she remains in a posture of ruined strength, seized by confusion;
and whenever a wide-mouthed gecko calls, she prays to it,
trembling, saying: "Speak good omens!"
Does she fight with the pale, lonely evening?
