Wearing in her tresses fresh, sweet pollen from opening flowers / of the short-stemmed kāñci tree, hung in garlands, / having slept yesterday in the fragrant grove with that dark-skinned woman / of red-streaked, captivating, rain-like eyes, and today too, / having bathed with her in the mighty waters of the Vaiyai river, / you come and stand before us with an un-dried chest— / can you really conceal it from us? / Like the loud, swelling tumult / in the high-mansioned city of Kūṭal, towering like a mountain, / of Ceḻiyaṉ of victorious spears, fast and mighty elephants, and tall chariots, / the lord of celebrated Koṟkai, where those who catch many fish / in the wide sea scoop up oysters / and barter them for toddy strained through plant fibers— / entering many mouths, that scandal has already spread!
