With freckles spreading across her fair mouth that was kissed,
wide, resting, rain-cool eyes, large arms and a small forehead,
she is so lovely, the young maiden!
Praised for her beauty, resplendent with grace in her walk,
she must go to the festival, like the great splendor
of the dark-eared fields of Aṭṭavāyil where tall banners flutter,
in the dust plowed by the swift chariots of the wealthy!
Like the spear brandished by Paḻaiyaṉ,
lord of Pōr with its water-rich gates
and gardens by the Kāvērī whose depth bamboo cannot measure,
the warrior of the Cōḻar kings adorned with jewels and fierce spears,
her eyes never miss when directed at those who gaze upon her!
