Will the return of fulfillment, its task accomplished,
with a heart brimming over with desire as wealth was gathered,
when, treated with fond regard during his stay in a foreign land,
he was seen off by hard-to-win kin coming behind him,
make itself known—
at the ear of her who stays worshipping the lizard's omen
which chirps each time she thinks of him, as a medicine
to banish the turmoil in her aching arms,
as she rests firmly against a wide cushion,
pressing her chin upon the forearm of fine jewels,
while tears fine as rain stream from her weeping rain-like eyes
which ponder the painted wall, counting day by day the marks of days
made to show the return that was intended in his heart,
travelling the wilderness path of miserable woods where the hollow-flowered mahua grows,
in groves of lovely foliage that look like leaping fire,
on low branches shaken by the wind that shed their loosening leaves under scorching rays?
