Having drunk from the dark ocean, darkening the quarters, / rising to the right to envelop the wide-spaced earth, / the dense, rich clouds that have taken on sorrow / flash all together like split [threads], / draw exceedingly near as if descending, / and pour down over and over as if falling, / without thunder or roaring, like the strumming / of strings on the well-crafted lute of bards, / shedding fine showers with sweet voices; / and after raining many good rains, at a fragrant dawn, / on the path where the saline ground rises through dense sand, / as the short-bellied, scarlet velvet mites run briskly / and conceal themselves, hiding among the dark-blue, lovely fallen flowers / of the kāyā that resemble corals set with gems— / in this lovely morning that has taken on the beauty of the rainy season, / let the chariot speed, O master of good prowess, / so that the young woman of broad shoulders, slender waist, / and fine jewels may receive us as a feast!
