பிறருறு விழுமம் பிறரும் நோப
தம்முறு விழுமம் தமக்கோ தஞ்சம்
கடம்புகொடி யாத்துக் கண்ணி சூட்டி
வேறுபல் குரல ஒருதூக்கு இன்னியம்
காடுகெழு நெடுவேட் பாடுகொளைக்கு ஏற்ப
அணங்கயர் வியன் களம் பொலியப் பையத்
தூங்குதல் புரிந்தனர் நமரென ஆங்கவற்கு
அறியக் கூறல் வேண்டும்- தோழி!-
அருவி பாய்ந்த கருவிரல் மந்தி
செழுங்கோட் பலவின் பழம்புணை யாகச்
சாரல் பேரூர் முன்துறை இழிதரும்
வறனுறல் அறியாச் சோலை
விறன்மலை நாடன் சொல்நயந் தோயே!

Others feel the distress that befalls others; / is the distress that befalls oneself light only to oneself? / Tying kadamba garlands, wearing chaplets, / striking sweet instruments of varied notes with a single beat, / to match the singing tune for the tall Murukaṉ of the forest, / so that the wide arena where the possessed dance shines, / our people have quietly resolved to perform the dance— / thus you must speak so that it is known to him, / O tōḻi, you who longed for the words of the lord of the victorious mountain, / where groves that know no drought drop down / to the bathing ghat of the large village on the slope, / using the ripe fruit of the jackfruit tree with fertile boughs / as a float for the black-fingered female monkey leaping from waterfalls!
