இருந்த வேந்தன் அருந்தொழில் முடித்தெனப்
புரிந்த காதலொடு பெருந்தேர் யானும்
ஏறியது அறிந்தன்று அல்லது வந்த
ஆறுநனி அறிந்தன்றொ இலெனே! "தா அய்
முயற்பறழ் உகளும் முல்லையம் புறவிற்
கவைக்கதிர் வரகின் சீறூர் ஆங்கண்
மெல்லியல் அரிவை இல்வயின் நிறீஇ
இழிமின்" என்றநின் மொழிமருண் டிசினே!
வான்வழங்கு இயற்கை வளி பூட் டினையோ?
மானுரு ஆகநின் மனம்பூட் டினையோ
உரைமதி- வாழியோ வலவ! - எனத்தன்
வரைமருள் மார்பின் அளிப்பனன் முயங்கி
மனைக்கொண்டு புக்கனன் நெடுந்தகை
விருந்தேர் பெற்றனள் திருந்திழை யோளே!

Because the ruling king finished the arduous task, / with longing love I climbed into the great chariot; / other than that, I knew nothing / of the long path we traveled! / In the mullai woodland where young hares leap, / at the small village with fork-eared millet, / halting beside the house of the tender young woman, / you said, “Descend!”—and I was amazed at your words! / Did you harness the wind, whose nature it is to course through the sky? / Or did you harness your own mind to take the form of horses? / Tell me—may you prosper, charioteer!” / Thus speaking, embracing him generously against his mountain-like chest, / the noble lord entered the house; / and she of well-wrought ornaments received the beauty of his homecoming!
