If he were to offer according to the yajus, he would consign the cattle to Rudra; he would become bereft of cattle. He should only speak the yajus; thus he spares the cattle from Rudra. At that moment all the deities hope regarding him: “He will offer to me! He will offer to me!” The deities meditating upon him, being shareless, would be capable of harming him. When he says, “To Agni accompanied by the Vasus, svāhā!” he makes the deities share-holders, for the non-injury of himself. Some deities share in the yajus, others share in the oblation; he gratifies both of them. [With the words,] “Place this sacrifice in heaven! Place this sacrifice in heaven!”—these worlds and quarters desired a share in the Gharma. When he says, “Place in heaven! Go to heaven! Go to the intermediate space! Go to the earth! Go to the five directions!” he gratifies these worlds and the directions in the Gharma. [With the words,] “Go to the gods who drink the Gharma!”—those gods who are drinkers of the Gharma, them he thus gratifies in the Gharma. With [the words], “To the gods who drink the Gharma, svāhā!” he offers into the Mahāvīra with the supporting ladle; those gods who are drinkers of the Gharma, them he gratifies in the Gharma. The gods and the asuras did equally in the Pravargya; whatever the gods did, that the asuras did. The asuras performed the Pravargya silently; it burned them up. The gods performed the Pravargya loudly; the gods flourished, the asuras perished. […] the second ones. Thus it is offered for himself, it becomes accompanied by the vaṣaṭ-call. [With the words,] “O Aśvins, you have drunk the Gharma,” [it is said by] the sacrificer; thereby he asks of their satisfaction. Moreover, it becomes accompanied by the vaṣaṭ-call. With [the words], “Sitting in the south across all quarters,” the brahman priest recites over what has been offered. Thus it is offered for himself. [With the words,] “Swell for food! Swell for nourishment!” he places food and nourishment right into the sacrifice. With [the words], “Swell for this priesthood! Swell for this nobility! Swell for this commonality!” he makes the priesthood, the nobility, and the commonality share-holders. [With the words,] “Swell for this pressing sacrificer!”
