Having become a boar, he found it. 9 With "You were [dug up] from the beginning," [he takes it]. That it is dug up by a boar means he collects the sacrificial fiery energy of this [earth] alone. 10 With "The divine ants are the firstborn of this existence," [he recites]. The ants are indeed the firstborn of this existence; they know where the sacrificial life of this [earth] is. In that he collects the earth of an anthill, he collects the sacrificial life of this [earth] alone. When Indra slew Vṛtra, his might and valor departed from him. It entered into the plants; they became the pūtīka plants. 11 With "You are the might of Indra," [he takes them]. In that he collects the pūtīka plants, he collects the might and valor of Indra alone. 12 With "You are the body of Prajāpati," they milk a she-goat. The she-goat is indeed this dear body of Prajāpati. In that they milk a she-goat, he collects the dear body of Prajāpati alone. 13 With "May the sweetening [herb] make you sweet," he pours the water on. He mixes this sweet [matter] with sweetness; it becomes sweet. 14 With "You are the head of Makha," he takes up the lump of clay. Makha is indeed the sacrifice; he makes the head of the sacrifice alone. 15 With "You two are in the step of the sacrifice," he presses down. He makes [them] in the step of the sacrifice alone. 16 With "You belong to the Gāyatrī," he puts on the first layer. The Gāyatrī is indeed priestly splendor, fiery energy; he places fiery energy and the priesthood in the sacrificer. 17 With "You belong to the Triṣṭubh," he puts on the second layer. The Triṣṭubh is indeed might and valor; he places might and valor in the sacrificer. 18 With "You belong to the Jagatī," he puts on the third layer. The Jagatī is indeed cattle; he places cattle in the sacrificer. 19 With "You are Makha," he makes it Makha itself. 20 With "You are the girdle of Makha," he makes the girdle. Makha is indeed the sacrifice; he makes it for the sacrifice alone. It is a span in measure; of such a size indeed is the face. Agni is the face of the gods; being equal in size to the face, it becomes a vessel at the top for the satisfaction of the deities. He is satisfied with offspring and cattle; the drinking of soma inclines toward him, who knows thus. 21 With "Bake in the heat of the sun," he places [it] in the heat.
