With his own dear name, with his dear abode he invokes him. [With the mantra:] 'O men, that fierce wonder of yours I reveal for gain, as thunder [reveals] rain, when Dadhyañc Ātharvaṇa spoke the favor of honey to you with the head of a horse. Agni rules over wealth, Agni over great good fortune; may they bestow those upon us' […]. Rudra indeed is Agni. He is possessing wealth, good fortune […]. The gods and the Asuras did the same at the Pravargya. Whatever the gods did, that the Asuras did. Those gods saw these viewing-mantras. With them, when the Gharma had shone bright at this sacrifice, they looked. The gods prospered; the Asuras were defeated. When one looks upon the Pravargya with these viewing-mantras, he becomes possessing offspring, possessing cattle, possessing sweetness. [With the mantra:] 'Ten to the east, ten to the south you shine,' for the obtaining of the quarters of space. Who indeed knows how great these worlds are? All the worlds indeed he obtains with these viewing-mantras. [With the mantra:] 'Ten to the east, ten to the south you shine, ten to the west, ten to the north you shine, ten upward you shine, being well-disposed': light indeed is brilliance; it is brilliance that he invigorates for him. [With the mantra:] 'Being unwrathful, protect our offspring and cattle,' for the safeguarding of offspring and cattle. Possessing offspring and possessing cattle he becomes who knows this, who knows the Pravargya-Upaniṣad. The gods indeed were afraid of the Mahāvīra when it had shone bright, thinking: 'This one will burn us all up with fiery energy.' They ran to Prajāpati. That Prajāpati said: 'Wait upon him with another; he will become auspicious.' […] [With the words:] 'Bhūr bhuvas svar' […] 'Bhuvas has been placed' […] [With the words:] 'Nṛmṇāyi nṛmṇam': offspring indeed are wealth, cattle are wealth; he buys off this Rudra from offspring and from cattle. 'Nidhāyyovā, nidhāyyovā'—with the sāman he sings as Udgātṛ. Thereby he stands firmly in a foundation. 'E svarjyotī3r': that sun yonder is this light. Thereby he causes him to prosper. These indeed are his dear bodies.
