aśmā jāgatam ayas traiṣṭubhaṃ loham auṣṇihaṃ sīsaṃ kākubhaṃ rajataṃ svārājyaṃ suvarṇaṃ gāyatram annaṃ vairājaṃ tṛptir ānuṣṭubhaṃ nākaṃ sāmrājyaṃ bṛhaspatir bārhataṃ brahma pāṅktaṃ prajāpatir ātichandasaṃ sāvitrī sarvavedachandasena chandaseti ||

Stone is of the Jagatī metre; iron of the Triṣṭubh; copper of the Uṣṇih; lead of the Kakubh; silver of self-rule; gold of the Gāyatrī; food of the Virāj; satisfaction of the Anuṣṭubh; the firmament of universal rule; Bṛhaspati of the Bṛhatī; Brahman of the Paṅkti; Prajāpati of the hyper-metre; the Sāvitrī of the metres of all the Vedas—thus the metres.
